about the studio
| |
Children are naturally fascinated with sound and movement as they teach themselves how to function in the world around them. Every child has the potential to learn music. Unfortunately, this potential is left underdeveloped in most children.
Come join me as I teach you how to "play musically" with your child while developing basic music skills such as singing, rhythm activities, chanting and moving. Even if you consider yourself "musically challenged" you will enjoy learning along with your child.
Music will benefit your child in a variety of ways such as:
* Melodic and rhythmic patterns provide exercise for the brain and help develop memory.
* Studying music helps children establish good listening habits which are essential for achievement in school.
* Music immerses the child in language, evokes movement, stimulates the brain and fosters physical coordination - all in a group setting that builds community - a delightful and holistic experience.
Each week parent and child will enjoy a variety of activities which foster musical growth. A typical class will consist of a variety of the following activities:
* Bouncing Songs
* Finger Plays
* Stationary Movement
* Rocking Songs
* Traveling Movement
* Dances
* Call-and-Respond
* Instruments (our studio is equipped with a variety of child-sized percussive instruments including drums, rhythm sticks, bells, triangles, and more!)
* Scarves and Hoops
* Musical Story-telling
Children learn best through moving and listening. Music and movement classes will help them grow and develop into successful students.

mission statement
| |
MiniMusicMasters seeks to provide a safe, nurturing and non-competitive environment for infants, toddlers and their caregivers to engage in musical play.
Music is learned as a language. As we speak to our children from birth in our native tongue, we understand that there is a phase of absorption and assimilation that baby must go through before he or she begins to comprehend and ultimately "speak" our language. So it is with music. |

I have called San Antonio my home since 1984, therefore, I feel that I am now qualified to call myself a Texan. I married my husband in 1987 and have two wonderful, musical teenagers of whom I am very proud!
